Ferries
Caledonian MacBrayne is the main ferry operator in Argyll and Bute. Calmac runs services from the mainland to the islands of Bute, Gigha, Islay, Mull and Tiree as well as the Dunoon to Gourock route where they directly compete with Dunoon based Western Ferries who also run the Dunoon to Gourock route.
Argyll and Bute Council directly operates its own ferries on the following routes: Seil - Luing, Seil - Easdale, Port Appin - Lismore and Port Askaig to Jura (Feolin)

Flights and Airports
There are a number of local airports served from Glasgow Airport. Campbeltown airport in Kintyre, Glenegedale airport on Islay and the new airport on Colonsay which is served from Oban's Connel airport and includes the islands of Coll and Tiree.

Bus
Citylink operates the main routes from Glasgow to Campbeltown, Oban and Fort William. Helensburgh is served by ?First? Service No 216 from Glasgow. South and Mid-Argyll are served by West Coast Motors who also operate in the Oban and surrounding areas as Oban Bus. Car
The most obvious route into Argyll from Glasgow is the A82 which runs on the western shore of Loch Lomond. At Tarbet the A82 continuous north while the A83 heads west towards Rest and be Thankful. The A83 is the main road for Argyll, Kintyre, the islands and Oban. Alternatively you can take the ferry from Gourock on the mainland to Dunoon on the Cowal Peninsula.
